Report: Lions finalizing deal with Anthony Lynn to become offensive coordinator

A few minutes after the team officially announced that Aaron Glenn will be the next defensive coordinator, reports came to Twitter that the Detroit Lions also defined their next offensive coordinator.

As The Athletic’s Michael Lombardi first reported, the Lions are finalizing a deal to hire former Los Angeles Chargers coach Anthony Lynn as the team’s next offensive coordinator.

Lynn has served as Chargers coach for the past four seasons, leading the team to a 33-31 record and a 1-1 post-season record.

Prior to his time with the Chargers, he has been in the NFL coaching ranks since 2000. He served as a running back trainer for the Cowboys, Browns, Jets and Bills. He also served as Bills’ offensive coordinator in 2016.

It is important to note that, like coach Dan Campbell, Lynn comes from Bill Parcells’ coaching tree. With both coaching and running experience, it will be interesting to see if he brings a racing attitude to Detroit.
