Report: Lakers buying Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ahead of NBA negotiation deadline

With the NBA negotiation deadline in just a few days, things are starting to heat up in terms of negotiating rumors.

Reportedly, the Los Angeles Lakers are Kentavious Caldwell-Pope shopping guard.

Since signing with LA in 2017, Caldwell-Pope has played a key role. He is a consistent 3-point shooter and a key part of the Lakers’ deadly transition attack.

In the last off-season, the team rewarded him with a generous three-year contract.

With LeBron James expected to possibly miss several weeks with an ankle injury and superstar Anthony Davis having already missed several weeks with a calf strain, the Lakers need help now, especially in the attack.

Although Caldwell-Pope was a reliable outlet for James and the rest of the team, he does not have the ability to create his own shot and is not particularly adept at penetrating the hitting.

There are also rumors that the Lakers may end up negotiating the key reserve Montrezl Harrell, so at this point, a significant change in the list seems possible.
