Cowboys certainly already have names for a new defensive coordinator. They may need a new offensive coordinator as well.
Cowboys’ offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, was interviewed for the position of Boise State head coach, Matt Prater of The Idaho Press reports.
Moore and Oregon defensive coordinator Andy Avalos are favorites for the job that was left open with Bryan Harsin’s departure for Auburn.
Prater reports “Kellen Moore and Andy Avalos have high interest at work #BoiseState. Both families on board. Both interviewed. The lawsuit included Chris Petersen, by sources. I hope one will be hired this week. “
Moore broke the FBS record for winning as a Broncos defender, going 50-3 in 2008-11. He spent three seasons with Lions and three with Cowboys before Dallas hired him as a quarterback coach in 2018.
Moore, 32, became the Cowboys ‘offensive coordinator in 2019. He remained the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator and play-caller when Mike McCarthy became the head coach this spring.
McCarthy said earlier this week that he had not spoken to Moore about Boise State’s work.
“I think with anything [involving] To advance your career, you only deal with these opportunities individually, ”said McCarthy.
The Cowboys are expected to split from defensive coordinator Mike Nolan after one season. Dallas ranks 24th in total defense, including 32nd in urgent defense and 31st in allowed points.
