Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff reportedly broke his right thumb during Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, according to Michael Silver and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Rapoport also reported that Goff suffered a displacement:
Silver added the injury, which is said to require surgery, could end the caller’s season.
After Sunday’s game, Rams coach Sean McVay declined to comment on Goff’s status in week 17.
“I’m not sure now. I don’t want to speculate on that,” McVay told reporters. “I know he fought and I have a lot of respect for the toughness he showed today to be able to finish the game.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted the quarterback must pass further tests:

Rams is unsure whether Jared Goff will be able to play at the end of next week’s regular season after he landed his right thumb during today’s loss to Seattle, according to sources. Goff will undergo further tests after Rams’ return to LA. But there are concerns about the condition of your thumb.
Although he is unsure of his status for week 17, Goff noted that the injury is not “terrible”.
“It’s okay now. It’s not terrible,” Goff said after the game. “We will see tomorrow. We will evaluate tomorrow.”
Any significant injury can be devastating for Rams, who are trying to secure a playoff spot.
It is especially harmful without anyone with legitimate NFL experience on the roster. John Wolford must take pictures under the center while trying to keep Los Angeles afloat.
Although inconsistency is a question mark for Goff, the titleholder took the Rams to the Super Bowl two years ago, before losing to the New England Patriots in the final game of the year.
He also performed well at the individual level, winning two selections in the Pro Bowl in the past three years. Although he was going up and down in 2019, he qualified third in the NFL with 4,638 passing yards and added 22 touchdowns.
The 26-year-old played well a few times in 2020 and entered Sunday with 3,718 passing yards, 20 touchdown shots and 12 interceptions.
McVay hopes that his creative attack will be enough to keep the team afloat until Goff is 100 percent.
