The Dolphins lost quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to the Washington Football Team on Monday. They replaced their insurance policy on Tuesday.
Miami reached an agreement on a one-year contract with ESPN quarterback Jacoby Brissett, Adam Schefter.
Fitzpatrick started just one game after being selected for the draft draft of the first round of Tua Tagovailoa in week 8. But he replaced Tagovailoa in two other games, and the jury remains out of Tagovailoa.
Brissett, 28, is 10 years younger than Fitzpatrick and, although he started 114 games less, Brissett has a lot of experience.
He played 49 games with 32 games and completed 59.6 percent of his passes for 6,459 yards with 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also ran 159 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Brissett was the head of the Colts starting in 2019 after Andrew Luck unexpectedly retired, but Indianapolis hired Philip Rivers last season and Brissett took action with just 47 clicks in 2020.
