The feverish dreams of a scenario in which Kirk Cousins is not the Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback in 2021 are starting to get hot and heavy. The other part of that feverish dream, at least for some, involves Houston Texans star quarterback DeShaun Watson, who comes to Minnesota for a number of draft choices.
If this news is any indication, it does not appear that any of these things are happening.

KSTP’s Darren Wolfson confirmed that there are real NFL executives out there who believe that Cousins will, in fact, end up in San Francisco somehow.
Wolfson then says he believes Cousins will be the Vikings’ quarterback next season.
He also points out that Watson has a total ban clause in his contract and, apparently, would not be willing to waive it to facilitate a negotiation for Minnesota. And honestly, given the offensive scheme that the Vikings run, it makes a lot of sense. As we’ve seen, even with wide dynamic receiver pairings (Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs and now Thielen and Justin Jefferson), the Vikings are still one of the NFL’s most violent offensives, and Watson doesn’t want to come here meaningless.
With this data, the rumors about the Cousins trade at the moment are nothing more than hot air. There is no reason for Vikings to exchange cousins unless they are getting a definite upgrade from the other side. . .and if Watson doesn’t come to Minnesota, who are they going to get to be definitely an upgrade?
Nobody is who.
I am sure that the rumors of exchange for the Cousins will continue, as those who hate the Cousins try to make such a thing exist. But, as things are now, the chances of that happening don’t look very good, and the chances of DeShaun Watson being in purple anytime soon are apparently even worse than that.
