Lawyer Rusty Hardin said a response on behalf of Texas quarterback Deshaun Watson to several allegations of assault during massage sessions will be provided next week. Apparently, someone leaked a preview of part of Watson’s explanation.

According to TMZ.com, Watson used Instagram to find massage therapists because his usual therapist was unavailable during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the report, Watson used “several friends, teammates and associates” for recommendations.

Although this information has nothing to do with the question of whether Watson was involved in misconduct during massages (he insists not; at least 12 women have formally claimed otherwise), she tries to explain the perception that Watson deliberately used the Instagram to look for massages that could possibly be something more than massages.

As explained repeatedly this week, the activation of the civil justice system means that these allegations will be resolved in court, preventing a settlement. The alleged victims will testify, Watson will testify, a jury will hear his words, study his behavior and consider any other objective evidence before deciding whether the victims or Watson are telling the truth.

Separated from the legal process is the court of public opinion. Regardless of whether Tony Buzbee’s efforts are succeeding, he has established a considerable advantage over Hardin in spreading the message.
