Report: Cavs offers worrying update on Kevin Love’s calf injury

Cleveland Cavaliers striker Kevin Love continues to struggle to recover from a calf injury, with the team indicating that a calf pain he suffered forced him out of Saturday’s training.

Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor noted that while the persistent injury hasn’t stopped Love from practicing, it comes after his first training sessions since his injury almost two months ago.

“Although sources say that Love did not experience a setback that disconnected him from all activities related to basketball – and was able to do individual training at the end of Saturday training – Love felt pain in his calf after training on Wednesday and Thursday, that made him stay out of the team on Saturday, ”wrote Fedor. “These two midweek workouts were the first Love sessions since he was removed on December 27 because of a severe calf strain.”

Love was in action in just two games and averaged just 9.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a total of 46 minutes of action. These numbers in the scoring and rebound categories are well below your career average.

During his 13-year career, 32-year-old Love struggled to stay healthy, one of the reasons he limited the commercial value for the Cavaliers.

Love’s continued absence along with the decision not to play as pivot Andre Drummond are part of the reason why the Cavaliers lost nine consecutive games and met a record 10-20 of the year.
