Report: Blake Bell is back with the Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing tight end Blake Bell back on a one-year contract, according SiriusXM’s Gabe Ikard.

Bell, 29, spent the 2020 season with the Dallas Cowboys organization after winning Super Bowl LIV as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs wanted him back for the title defense before he chose the Cowboys.

Here are our notes from her 2019 season with Kansas City:

With Andy Reid using his fair share of several tight end sets, Bell played 397 offensive snaps (37.8%) during the 2019 regular season for the Chiefs. He also added 209 snaps from special teams (50%).

Mainly serving as a blocker, Bell’s offensive production was limited; he recorded only eight receptions for 67 yards in 2019. His only touchdown of the season came in the divisional round against Houston Texans – a score that put the Chiefs at 48-31 in an eventual 51-31 victory.

As a member of the Cowboys in 2020, Bell compiled 11 catches for 110 yards. While the Chiefs’ cast is standing by the time of this writing, Bell instantly becomes the favorite to win the Kansas City tight end 2 position behind Travis Kelce over Nick Keizer and company.

We will see if the Chiefs bring other options to the fold.
