Bears receiver Allen Robinson said last week that “everything” was at stake regarding his future. It is not clear whether “everything” in his mind included the Bears using the franchise brand on it and then trying to negotiate it.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Robinson’s representation has not spoken to the team about a long-term deal since September. Robinson is scheduled to reach the free agency next month.
“It certainly seems to bring the [franchise] tag at stake, ”said Pelissero. “Whether it’s the Bears trying to do an extension, whether it’s setting up Robinson to play tag, or maybe even a tag-and-trade scenario.”
Robinson has had 102 receptions for 1,250 yards and six touchdowns this season, and he has had 255 receptions for 3,151 yards and 17 touchdowns over three seasons in Chicago.
The franchise brand window opens next Tuesday and runs through March 9.
