Renee Zellweger will headline NBC miniseries The Thing About Pam on her first foray into open TV
Renee Zellweger is set to star in The Thing About Pam, a true crime miniseries that will have six episodes on NBC, marking the film star’s first incursion on open TV.
The miniseries starring Bridget Jones’s Diary star, 51, will be adapted from a Dateline investigation and a 2019 podcast with the same title, Deadline reported.
It revolves around the 2011 murder of a Missouri woman, Betsy Faria, for which her husband was initially convicted, but was later dismissed and the case eventually focused on Faria’s co-worker, Pam Hupp, who will play actress Judy , Oscar winner.

Jerry Maguire’s star is also executive producer of the miniseries, with Jessika Borsiczky working as a showrunner.
Susan Rovner, Chairman of the Entertainment Content Board at NBCUniversal, said the elements of the true crime story are a natural adaptation to the small screen.
“The twists and turns of this saga are really stranger than fiction and, in the hands of this incredibly talented artistic team, this series will bring a completely new perspective to a story that has already captivated millions,” said Rovner in a statement on Production.
The Thing About Pam marks the initial collaboration between NBC News Studios and Blumhouse Television.
