Relief project includes $ 95 million for South Carolina health centers

COLOMBIA, SC (AP) – South Carolina health centers are receiving more than $ 95 million to support COVID-19 vaccination and services for vulnerable populations.

Funding for 23 community health centers across the state was announced on Thursday by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. It is part of the $ 1.9 trillion pandemic relief bill known as the “American Rescue Plan”.

Authorities say health centers – which aim to provide care to communities in need – can apply the funds to preventive and primary health services for people at increased risk for COVID-19, as well as expand operational capacity to include mobile health units.

The authorities said the funding will be officially granted next month by the Health Resources and Services Administration. It is part of the more than $ 6 billion that goes to about 1,400 health centers across the country.
