Kelsey Grammer will review his iconic role in the comedy, which has been developing for several years.
Dr. Frasier Crane is listening – again.
A revival of the classic sitcom Frasier starring Kelsey Grammer is officially a hit on ViacomCBS’s Paramount + streaming service. The news was announced on Wednesday during the company’s presentation of Paramount +.
“Having spent more than 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and acting in several, I would like to congratulate Paramount + for its entry into the streaming world,” said Grammer. “I look forward to sharing the next chapter in Dr. Frasier Crane’s ongoing journey.”
CBS Studios and Grammer’s Grammnet Productions are producing the revival, which Grammer has been working to make happen for several years. News of a possible revival surfaced in the summer of 2018, when Grammer spoke to CBS Studios about the program. Paramount + came on the scene earlier this month as negotiations progressed.
Chris Harris (How I met your mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in pieces) – who for several years managed a Twitter account, @FrasierContempo, with lines and script pages showing possible Frasier scenarios – will write the new show. They are executive producers for Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon of Grammer and Grammnet.

Grammer first played Frasier Crane in Health in 1984 and made the headline Frasier, which lasted 11 seasons on NBC. The series won 37 Emmys throughout its season, including five consecutive trophies for best comedy series starting in 1994 and several acting victories for Grammer and co-star David Hyde Pierce. The series is currently broadcast on CBS All Access – which will become Paramount + next week – as well as Hulu and Peacock.
In addition to Frasier Grammer will also star in an ABC comedy alongside Alec Baldwin in the 2021-22 season. The untitled program, which received a direct order for the series, comes from Frasier and Modern Family veteran Christopher Lloyd.
