Rebel party near the University of Colorado at Boulder leads police to swear prisons

Police in Boulder, Colorado, said on Sunday that they were working to identify those who participated in a large street party on University Hill that resulted in three police officers being beaten by bricks and stones, according to reports.

KDVR, the local police station, reported that the Saturday night party included a large crowd that set off fireworks and caused significant material damage, including an armored police vehicle and a fire truck. Boulder Police Department police said they were reviewing the images to “accuse and identify” those involved.

The school also issued a statement calling the incident “unacceptable and irresponsible”, especially when considering compliance with COVID-19 health orders.

“We appreciate the efforts of law enforcement to deal with the unacceptable conduct of these students and apologize to University Hill residents for their behavior,” said the school’s statement.

The scene photos showed cars with broken glass and at least one car overturned.

The Washington Post reported that there were about 500 to 800 “unmasked revelers”. The report said the police arrived around 8:30 pm and warned the crowd that they would be arrested if they did not leave. There was a confrontation with the police when about 100 people in the group accused them, the report said.

Michael Dougherty, the district attorney for Boulder County, told reporters at a news conference that calling what happened on Saturday was wrong.

“I don’t consider people turning the car over like a party. I don’t consider people throwing bottles and stones at firefighters and police as a party. These are criminal acts and will be treated as such.”
