Razer unveils new N95 face mask concept with RGB lighting and voice amplifier technology

At this week’s CES 2021, game technology maker Razer unveiled a new concept design for a “smart mask” with N95 surgical respirator, RGB lighting and voice amplification technology. The idea behind the smart mask, called Project Hazel, is to improve safety and solve some of the social problems inherent in the use of a face mask such as muffled voices, while avoiding waste thanks to its reuse.

More specifically, the Project Hazel smart mask is made of waterproof, scratch-resistant recyclable plastic with an airtight seal made possible by its adjustable ear rings. The RGB lighting mentioned above allows more than 16 million colors and dynamic rays to enhance the user’s mouth, and its cargo box also includes a disinfectant UV light. And a built-in microphone can amplify the user’s voice. According to Razer, Project Hazel’s BFE Smart Pods can “filter at least 95% of airborne particles and have a high resistance to fluids”.

The Hazel Project is not the first time that Razer has endeavored to support the response to COVID-19. You must remember that the company made headlines in early 2020 for converting manufacturing facilities to make medical masks and then donating them. Project Hazel appears to be the next step in Razer’s efforts, although, as a concept design, there is no way to say at this point whether it will hit the market or simply inform the company’s other efforts in the future.

“Razer recognizes uncertainty on the road ahead, so it was our duty to help protect members of our community and prepare them from invisible threats,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO, as part of the revelation. of the Hazel Project. “The Hazel Project’s smart mask concept is intended to be functional, yet comfortable and useful for interacting with the world, while maintaining a sociable aesthetic.”
