Razer made a mask with RGB lighting and a crazy gaming chair

Razer is taking the N95 mask concept to the next level. As part of the CES 2021 ads, the company introduced Project Hazel on Tuesday, the “smartest face mask in the world”.

Project Hazel looks like you would expect from a face mask made by Razer, with a shiny, scratch-resistant, waterproof plastic shell. The mask has removable and rechargeable active fans and Smart Pods with high efficiency of bacterial filtration (BFE) that regulate the air flow.

Thanks to its transparent design, Project Hazel allows others to see facial signs, improving social interactions, according to Razer. Masks make it almost impossible to pick up nonverbal cues, as you can’t see if someone is smiling. The design of Project Hazel aims to solve this. And if you’re using the Razer face mask in the dark, the interior lighting will be activated automatically.

Project Hazel also features VoiceAmp technology, which uses a built-in microphone and amplifier to enhance the user’s voice. My hope is that Razer’s technology will make everyone look like Ben Affleck’s Batman, who has a kind of metallic growl. If it seems intimidating, it just means that people will keep their distance, which is the main point.

The smart mask also features active air cooling and regulation, an airtight seal from its adjustable ear straps and a wireless quick charge box that can sanitize the mask with UV light disinfection. As expected, Project Hazel comes equipped with RGB lighting, which is a staple of modern Razer products.

“Razer recognizes uncertainty on the road ahead, so it was our duty to help protect members of our community and prepare them against invisible threats,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “The Hazel Project’s smart mask concept is intended to be functional, yet comfortable and useful for interacting with the world, while maintaining a sociable aesthetic.”

Razer Project Brooklyn gaming chair

Razer also announced Project Brooklyn, a state-of-the-art gaming chair that features a carbon fiber design, RGB lighting and a 60-inch screen. The chair sits on an adjustable platform with cable routing and follows design tips from the Razer Raptor monitor. It also features “4D” armrests that fold neatly and foldable tables, so you can quickly switch from a mouse and keyboard to a controller.

Razer said it will continue to develop the Brooklyn Project and conduct tests with top athletes and sports personalities. Will it ever become a real product? Maybe maybe not. But there is no denying that it looks cool as hell.
