Razer enters the arena of audio glasses with Anzu glasses

The Razer Anzu comes in round and square styles in two size options (the big round is shown here).

Audio glasses are fast becoming one thing. Last year, Bose followed its original frames with three second generation models, including the sports car Fames Weather, and Amazon is selling the second generation of its Echo Frames while many others, like Razer, are now getting into the action of “smart” glasses. THE Razer Anzer, which comes in round and square versions in two different size options, is now available for $ 200 (£ 200, AU $ 320).

I haven’t tried it yet, but its design (at least the square version) and specifications don’t seem to be that different from other models I’ve tried. The small size weighs 43 grams, while the large one weighs 48 grams (Echo Frames are 31 grams in comparison). The glasses include 35% blue light filtering lenses along with a set of polarized sunglasses lenses (you can easily change them), have touch controls and built-in 16 mm speaker drivers that emit directional sound towards your open ears.

They are IPX4 water resistant (which means they are splash proof) so you can use them for running – the audio glasses work well for running and cycling, because they leave your ears open so you can hear traffic. Battery life is estimated at up to five hours with moderate volume levels and additional polarized lenses are available for $ 30.

It’s also worth noting: as Razer is a “gaming lifestyle” company, it is highlighting its low-latency Bluetooth technology – it says “the customized Bluetooth 5.1 connection brings industry-leading 60ms latency to sound smooth and uninterrupted “.

The add-on Razer Anzu app for iOS and Android allows firmware updates, allows you to make EQ adjustments (default, enhanced clarity or treble boost), access latency settings and check battery status. You can make calls with them and access their virtual assistant by pressing a button.

Razer has partnered with Lensabl for prescription lenses, although more replacement lens sites online, including replaceerxlenses.com and overnightglasses.com, you can fit them with RX lenses. Lensabl is offering a 15% discount to owners of Anzu, but you can compare their prices with prices from other websites.

As I said, I don’t know what Anzu sounds like, but most sunglasses with audio don’t sound very good and tend to be deficient in the bass department – and they all tend to leak sound at higher volumes. The new Bose 2.0 frames are easily the best sound on the market so far, but Amazon’s Echo frames are lighter and probably more comfortable to use.

As soon as I get a pair, I’ll tell you how they compare to your main competitors and whether they deserve to be on our list of best audio glasses and sunglasses.
