Raymond E. Nelson

Raymond E. Nelson, 91, of Union Township passed away on the morning of February 11, 2021, in UPMC Passavant.
Born on December 17, 1929, in New Castle, he was the son of the late John G. and Martha A. Jokiniemy Nelson.
On July 23, 1955, Raymond married his beloved wife, former Donna J. Hartzell. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2017.
Raymond worked for over 39 years for the former Bell Telephone Company as a switching equipment technician.
He had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.
Raymond was a member of the Victory Family Church.
Raymond was an avid gambler. He liked gardening and doing woodwork projects. He also liked the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
Raymond leaves his daughter, Jacqueline Todd, of Piedmont, South Carolina; his brother, John Nelson (Fran), from New Castle; his sister, Jean Toskin de Hermitage; a granddaughter, Andrea Nelsin (Steven); and three great-grandchildren, Adisson, Carson and Jonathan.
In addition to his parents and wife, Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Thomas R. Nelson.
A private service will be held at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematorium, 941 S. Mill St. Pastor John Owens of the Victoria Family Church will officiate.
The burial will be at Castle View Memorial Gardens.
