Whatever the future holds for the DC Extended Universe, it’s unlikely to show Ray Fisher’s Cyborg version.

The wrap reports that despite Cyborg once having a cameo set for the next Andy Muschietti Snapshot starry film Ezra Miller, the paper has now been written and will not be reformulated. Io9 independently confirmed this with a source close to the project.

The news comes later months of public disputes between Fisher and Warner Bros. about allegations of misconduct on the set of Joss Whedon Justice League remake. On December 11, WarnerMedia issued a statement saying that its investigation (started in August 2020) of the events had been completed and “corrective measures have been taken”. what culminated on December 30 with Fisher presenting an ultimatum, or apparently giving up his role as a superhero, when he tweeted in part, “I will not participate in any production associated with” DC Films President Walter Hamada.

While Hamada was not working on Justice League during the alleged initial events, Fisher claimed he was an accomplice after the fact. At the time, Warner Bros. released a statement saying in part: “The two had spoken earlier when Mr. Hamada asked him to repeat his role as Cyborg at Warner Bros. ‘next Flash movie, along with other members of the Justice League. In his July conversation, Mr. Fisher reported disagreements with the film’s creative team regarding his interpretation of Cyborg, and complained that the suggested revisions of the script were not adopted. Mr. Hamada explained that creative differences are a normal part of the production process and that the screenwriter / director of a film has to take care of these matters. Notably, Mr. Hamada also told Mr. Fisher that he would raise his concerns with WarnerMedia so that they could conduct an investigation. “

Later this week, Warner Bros. renewed the Hamada contract to continue his role at DC Films. In response to the news of the same day, Fisher tweeted, “It’s strange how these reactionary ads from [Warner Bros.] always forget to mention that Walter Hamada was working directly with Geoff Johns and Toby Emmerich (in Shazam) DURING Justice League redo … ”

However, with Hamada running DC Films in the near future and Fisher saying he would not work with DC under Hamada, the team behind The Flash decided to take out the Cyborg appearance. Cameos of Batman actors Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as their respective Bruce Wayne remain and deals have been closed. That means, unless some big moves happen on the Warner Bros side, Fisher’s Cyborg will be seen last time next Snyder cut of Justice League, which will have an expanded role for the character. It will be released later this year.
