Actor Ray Fisher has been very satisfied on social media, promoting the HBO Max feature Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut.
However, that changed tonight when he took aim at WarnerMedia Studios CEO Ann Sarnoff regarding his recent statements in a Variety interview about the studio’s investigation of Joss Whedon’s alleged misconduct during the production of the DC film four years ago.
Sarnoff was questioned by VarietyBrent Lang of Brent Lang, whether the studio’s investigation of Whedon corroborated any of Fisher’s allegations of racism on behalf of studio employees. Fisher made his initial accusations on social media against Whedon last July, accusing the filmmaker who replaced Snyder of “rude, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable” behavior. Fisher also made a great effort to point his finger at Justice League producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, who he says will enable Whedon. WarnerMedia conducted an internal investigation at the end of last year at Fisher’s request and in December announced that its “investigation into the Justice League film was completed and corrective measures were taken. “

“Our investigator, Judge Katherine Forrest, issued statements specifically about (the president of DC Films) Walter Hamada, saying that there was no evidence of Walter’s interference in the investigation. She said that cuts made in Joss Whedon’s version of Justice League they were not racially motivated. We took this very seriously, so we hired one of the top investigators and gave her a huge margin of maneuver, ”said Sarnoff Variety.
Variety also asked if the WarnerMedia boss knew about an NDA that Fisher signed that prevented him from publicly sharing more details about what happened on Whedon’s watch during Justice League. Sarnoff replied that she was unaware of such an NDA. She added that Hamada offered Fisher a role in the next Flare movie.
In a series of five tweets, Fisher exploded:
“Apparently, some people on @WarnerMedia think that a room full of executives saying“ we can’t be an angry black man in the center of the film (and then reducing / removing all the black and POC from that film) is not racist. Strange, ”wrote actor Cyborg.
“The researcher hired by @WarnerMedia was brought in to help the company assess and circumvent legal responsibilities. Continually proclaiming your status as a former Federal Judge in an attempt to influence public opinion is obvious and desperate. She is now simply a lawyer, ”he continued.
“As I said, people are going to try to blame Joss Whedon completely for the Justice League remake. Toby Emmerich, Geoff Johns and Jon Berg share that responsibility; with Johns working directly with Joss on restructuring the script based on the executives’ conventions, ”added Fisher.
“Furthermore: ‘There was really nothing that Walter did against Ray, in fact he offered him a role in Flare film. “And“ Walter is a black person, so he knows how it is. ” are the absolute definition of deaf for tones, ”he continued.
“Final thoughts for now: instead of trying to convince people about what Justice League investigation did not find – how about you start telling them what she DID? The public is much smarter than you think. The proof is there. Early. A> E. ”
Although Fisher did not detail the details of what went wrong in the set of Justice League, nor did WarnerMedia – to the point of the actor – publicize its findings. Fisher continued to criticize Hamada as an accessory to this mess, however, the executive did not oversee Justice League when he was initially in production, as he was an executive at New Line.
During his speech against WarnerMedia, Fisher was hired by the studio to remake Snyder’s cut in October. The current version of the film is four hours and two minutes long and exposes the arc of Fisher’s Cyborg character a lot.
WarnerMedia made no further comments this evening regarding Fisher’s recent attack on Sarnoff.
