Insomniac Games will launch Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – the gang’s first new adventure in years – on June 11 exclusively for PlayStation 5, the studio announced on Thursday.
Originally unveiled on June 11, 2020 (one year before the release date), the game will be available in a standard edition for $ 69.99 and a Deluxe Digital Edition for $ 79.99.
Insomniac said during Gamescom last summer that Rift Apart would debut in the PS5 “launch window”. Seven months is a very expansive window – the PS5 arrived in mid-November – but it is possible that Sony may want to postpone the launch of one of its higher profile PS5 exclusives until the console is more available for customers to buy.
In a PlayStation blog post, Insomniac that Rift Apart it’s “a whole new adventure” – it looks like the studio learned its lesson from last year’s unclear spinoff game announcement Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Sony is offering a variety of pre-order bonuses for Rift Apart. Customers who order any of the editions of the game can purchase the beloved Carbonox armor at Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, as well as an “early unlock” of the Pixelizer shotgun from Ratchet & Clank (2016). Although it is not entirely clear, it appears that all players will eventually be able to get the Pixelizer, regardless of their pre-order status. A physical release edition of Rift Apart will be available from certain retailers in the United States and Canada; it will sell for $ 69.99 and feature a voucher for pre-order bonuses.
The Digital Deluxe Edition by Rift Apart comes with Raritanium bonuses (used to upgrade weapons), five bonus armor sets and a sticker pack for the game’s photo mode. It also includes a digital art book and a digital version of the game’s soundtrack.
Insomniac did not reveal any new footage in a trailer announcing the release date, but the PlayStation Blog post came with some new information about the game.
Rift ApartThe story focuses on the ever-present Dr. Nefarious and his new invention: a machine that looks for alternative dimensions where he always beats the heroes. Through this new device, Ratchet & Clank separate and find the female without name lombax (the same breed as Ratchet). The two friends will need to work with this new lombax resistance fighter to get together between dimensions.
As for the name of this new lombax, Insomniac has yet to tell players. But he ended the blog post with what looked like a clue: “hang on, you will feel good soon”. This may suggest that her name is Rose, Rosie or something similar. Either way, fans will be able to start calling her real name soon, instead of just relying on “female lombax”.
