Rashod Dubinion commits to Arkansas

Ellenwood athlete (Georgia) Rashod Dubinion committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Dubinion, 5-11, 177, made his decision public via Instagram at around 7 pm on Saturday, making it the Hogs’ fourth verbal promise to the Class of 2022.

The versatile athlete chose Sam Pittman’s program over an impressive array of offerings, including Auburn, Baylor, Florida, State of Florida, Louisville, Michigan, State of Michigan, Nebraska, Ole Miss and many others.

Dubinion is being recruited by Arkansas as a running back who can also line up in the slot. The Georgia native was recruited to Fayetteville by a running back coach Jimmy Smith, who had a strong connection to Dubinion of his day as head coach of Cedar Grove before entering college.

Although Dubinion has not yet visited Fayetteville, he was one of several who participated in a large virtual tour weekend on January 30. Razorbacks also received several dozen virtual visitors on January 23 and again on February 6.

Dubinion has not yet received a rating from 247Sports, but will be covered in the next round of monthly ratings on February 24. Arkansas is currently 24th in the country and 7th in the SEC in the 2022 recruitment ranking, not including Dubinion.

Dubinion is a teammate with three other targets offered by Arkansas in Cedar Grove, including a four-star defensive tackle Christen Miller, four-star wide receiver Janiran Bonner, and defensive end not classified Joshua White, which has already put Razorbacks in its top six.

In addition to Dubinion, Pittman and the Hogs have three other commitments at the defensive end of Greenland (Ark) JJ Hollingsworth, Tight end DeWitt (Ark.) Dax Courtneyand Duncan (SC) Byrnes offensive striker Eli Henderson. Hollingsworth and Courtney give Razorbacks two of the nine instant perspectives offered for the Class of 2022.

Dubinion is Georgia’s eighth product to choose Arkansas since Pittman arrived in December 2019. Pittman’s first class included the defensive striker from Troup County Andy Boykin, Peach County defensive striker Jaqualin McGheeand Cherokee running back Ebony Jackson. McGhee signed with Hogs, but decided he didn’t want to play football anymore. Jackson was not hired and had to follow the path of junior college.

In the 2021 cycle, the Razorbacks removed three more from the state of Peach in Atlanta Tri-Cities. Cameron Ball, Crisp County Linebacker Christopher Paul Jr.and security of Cedartown Jayden Johnson. Paul and Johnson signed up early and are currently undergoing winter conditioning with the Hogs, while Ball will enter the program this summer.

Arkansas signed just five in the state of Georgia total in the five years prior to Pittman’s arrival. The last time Hogs landed at least seven in a three-year period was under the command of former head coaches Houston Nutt and Bobby Petrino between 2006-08.

HawgSports.com will have more to come about Dubinion’s decision and what it means for the Class of 2022.
