Rapoport: Antonio Brown’s Bucs Offer May Be Just a ‘Proof’ Deal

Over the weekend, Buccaneers free agent wide receiver Antonio Brown said he and Leonard Fournette are going to set things up with Tampa Bay. But we know what the NFL seasons are like for NFL players – the longer they run out of contracts, the more time they have to negotiate better deals or they get an even lower offer than they expected.

For Brown, it may be that what he is hearing from the Bucs is not exactly what he wants.

Appearing on the Pat McAfee program, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport feels that what the Buccaneers are offering Brown is a kind of proof business, laden with incentives. Check out the clip below.

Part of the potential stalemate between the Buccaneers and Brown is that Seattle is involved to some degree. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been campaigning for the veteran receiver to be hired so he can have another target to shoot.

As for the situation between Tampa Bay and Brown, Bucs players, coaches and the front office are all on record saying that the veteran receiver has basically exceeded expectations in 2020. This is essentially in the hands of Brown, who wants more than just to prove his business.
