Rangers will allow 100 percent fans on debut day

Texas Rangers will allow the Globe Life Field to be 100% full on opening day. The team announced Wednesday that it would allow the stadium to be at full capacity for its last two exhibition games and opening day, according to Levi Weaver of The Athletic.

After that, the team will have “socially distant sections available in subsequent games,” according to Weaver.

Fans who attend these two exhibition games or on the opening day will be required to wear masks, although the team is waiting for “voluntary membership”.

The news comes a week after Texas Governor Greg Abbott opened the state 100 percent and no longer required the use of masks.

Globe Life Field has a capacity for more than 40,000 people.

Rangers are the first MLB team to fully open service

With the news, Rangers are the first team to allow 100% audience in 2021. Other teams will allow fans during the 2021 season, but only with limited audience. St. Louis Cardinals, for example, is only allowing 32 percent of the capacity to start the season.

The move probably opens the door for Houston Astros to receive fans at 100% capacity, although the team has given no indication that it will do so. For now, Astros is expected to have limited gaming capacity in 2021.
