Random: Oops, the cactus of the Super Nintendo world seems to have come out of a game made by a fan

Super Nintendo World the opening may have been delayed recently, but – when the pandemic is over – we look forward to seeing it in person. Understandably, fans have focused on the details provided and one of them made a more unusual discovery: the theme park cactus design is slightly out.

Leading to Twiitter, user @ meatball132 pointed out that the cactus model used is Super Mario Bros. Latest wii, a mod made by a 2013 fan. Designed to review New Super Mario Bros. Wii with new levels, bosses, updated graphics and more, it appears specifically in World 2’s “Rubble Ruins”.

As to why this happened, Meatball132 believes it was probably due to an error in Google’s search results, which feature images of the Newer Mario Bros. Wii if you search for “New Super Mario Bros. Wii Cactus”. It is not the first time that the team behind the Super Nintendo World has been lacking here, considering that a fan-made rendering of Mario was seen on the official website last month.

The error comes amid legal tensions between fans and Nintendo, which has ended several fan projects in recent years. Recent examples include an unofficial Mario Kart service and a fan-made Zelda game. Probably with that in mind, Meatball132 has enlightened it was “just a cool thing we noticed” and is asking people not to understand also angry with anyone.

Was that just an oversight? Let us know in the comments below.
