Perhaps the most unlikely duo in 2020 was Doomguy and Isabelle. It all started when DOOM Eternal was postponed until March 20, hitting the launch date on the same day as the Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
The internet thought it was a match made in Heaven (and Hell), even though the game’s two worlds were far apart, and Animal Crossing game director Aya Kyogoku praised the unity of the two fan bases – mentioning how she she was thrilled to see this type of communication.
With all of that in mind, it seems that only the characters from these two insanely popular games say goodbye to 2020 and see the new year together, and that’s what they did on the official DOOM Twitter account. At the time of writing, the tweet below has accumulated well over 100,000 likes. In case you are wondering, these figures are Nendoroid.
While some fans expected to see the games, perhaps reference each other when they were released, and some others are still asking for Doomguy to be added to the Smash Ultimate Casting as a DLC fighter so he can reunite with Isabelle, it looks like 2020 could be the end of the road for this powerful crossover.
