With the Divisional Playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams scheduled for Saturday afternoon, the two teams released their first injury reports of the week on Tuesday, reflecting the players’ status in practice. Interestingly, although the Rams played last Saturday and are therefore in a normal seven-day week, they held just one demo today while trying to recover for the next game at Lambeau Field.
That day off from full practice may be very necessary, as several of the top Rams players were estimated to be unable to participate if the team had worked normally. The name that will make headlines is defender Aaron Donald, who suffered a rib injury in Rams’ victory over the Seattle Seahawks last weekend. Donald is listed with a status of “did not participate”, indicating that his injury is really significant and that his status will be monitored during the week.
Joining Donald with DNP status are three of the 11 participants in the Rams attack last Saturday. Quarterback John Wolford suffered a sting in the neck during the game and was prevented from practicing, while bodyguard David Edwards – former Wisconsin Badger – suffered an ankle problem. However, the biggest name on this side of football is wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who appeared to have a non-contact knee injury during the game.
As for the Packers, only one player was unable to participate in the team’s training on Tuesday, which amounted to a training session on Wednesday in a normal week. That player is the defensive line player Kingsley Keke, who remains seated while following the concussion protocol. The rest of the players in the Green Bay report were listed as limited, with six players having that status while continuing to work through several persistent injuries.
Notably, Rick Wagner remained limited on Tuesday, although he played every snap in the week’s 17th Packers game in Chicago. Wagner’s knee injury will continue to be worth monitoring, but the Packers had veteran Jared Veldheer in training as early as Tuesday to provide excellent depth in the tackle positions. That depth must be priceless, with David Bakhtiari remaining out for the Packers playoff.
Here are the injury reports from both teams on Tuesday.
