Whether this is a good or a bad thing depends on you
Ramlethal Valentine was one of the most popular newcomers to join the Guilty Gear Xrd squad, so it wasn’t surprising to see her return on Guilty Gear Strive, although previous muscle memory probably won’t do you much good if you used to play with her.
Arc System Works has now released the official starter guide for Ramlethal as it will appear on Strive, and what is striking about it is how different it is compared to its debut in the series.
One of the most striking changes shown is that she can no longer send and retrieve her big swords at will, which certainly changes her pressure game compared to Xrd.
Ramlethal can now launch his blades like a giant projectile called Bajoneto that can explode causing extra damage in the corner, but to recover them, she will need to pick them up alone or wait for them to come after a certain period of time.
If it hits the wall, Ram can pick up his swords and continue combos easily.
The Dauro launcher is one of his few return moves and appears to be probably his main starting / extending combo out of the corner. The damage done by Valentine’s sister looks pretty crazy.
Some movements, however, are much weaker if one or both swords are away from your body, such as the new blow
What most Ramlethal players would probably not expect to receive would be a Rekka move, but apparently this is exactly what she achieved with Erarlumo, which allows her to show her martial arts up close.
How different Ram will be in the real matches is yet to be seen in the open beta next week, but she is definitely not in the same boat as Sol, Ky or the other pillars of the series. ArcSys previously launched new beginner guides for Zato-1 and Millia Rage, as well as before the event.
