Ram tells Ford to open the hood of the new Raptor

The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor will be launched on February 3, and Ram is not too concerned about having a challenger for his recently launched TRX muscle truck. On social media, Ram challenges the Blue Oval to “open the hood” of the performance pickup to see which one has the most powerful engine.

At least in terms of engine capacity, the TRX is the easy winner with its 6.2-liter V8, against the 3.5-liter V6 that is expected in the Raptor’s engine compartment. The Ram also has 702 horsepower (524 kilowatts). Ford’s production is still a mystery, but it’s probably not much more than the 450 hp (336 kW) of the previous generation truck.

We still don’t know for sure which gearbox the new Raptor uses, but it probably comes with a 10-speed automatic like the previous one. Meanwhile, the TRX has an eight-speed car.

Judging from what we know so far, it seems likely that the Ram TRX will be the fastest truck in a straight line, reaching 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 4.5 seconds. The previous generation Raptor took 6.0 seconds to reach the same speed. The new one may decrease a little this time.

Things get interesting when these trucks get off the road. The previous Raptor was a technological powerhouse with features like the Trail Control off-road cruise control system. It also has high-tech adaptive dampers that are smart enough to detect if the truck is bouncing and can stiffen up accordingly.

The TRX also has a few tricks. It has adaptive shocks Bilstein Blackhawk E2 with remote reservoirs. Like the Raptor, the system can detect whether the truck is in the air.
