Rajini sir progressing well, says hospital

Star Rajinikanth, who was admitted to a hospital on Friday with severe fluctuations in blood pressure, is making good progress, doctors said on Saturday.

“Mr Rajinikanth, who was admitted to the hospital yesterday, is making good progress. He has had a restless night and his blood pressure is still higher, although under better control than yesterday,” Apollo Hospital said in a statement.

According to the hospital, the 70-year-old actor’s investigations have revealed nothing alarming so far. He has yet another series of investigations scheduled on Saturday, reports that will be available by night.

“His blood pressure medications are being carefully titrated and he will continue to be monitored closely. He has been advised to take full rest due to his unstable blood pressure and visitors are not allowed to find him,” the document said.

“Based on your investigations and blood pressure control, the decision on your discharge will be made at night.”

Rajinikanth’s daughter is with him at the hospital. The family and doctors asked all supporters to avoid visiting the hospital.

The actor had been filming for the Tamil film ‘Annaatthe’ in Hyderabad for the past 10 days.

Some people on the film sets tested positive for Covid-19. Rajinikanth was tested on December 22 and its results were negative. Since then, he has isolated himself and been closely monitored.

“Although he had no symptoms of Covid-19, his blood pressure showed several fluctuations and needed a more detailed assessment for which he was admitted to the hospital,” said a previous hospital statement.
