A picture is worth a thousand words in the STARZ teaser Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
The brief clip gives fans a glimpse of what’s to come in the wake of Courtney Kemp’s Book of Power II: Ghost. From creator and showrunner Sascha Penn, Power Book III: Raising Kanan takes viewers back to the 90s and the early years of the late Kanan Stark, portrayed in Kemp’s original series by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
Defined as “Excursions” by A Tribe Called Quest, the teaser features a series of photographs that depict the past of young Kanan Stark from Mekai Curtis. From its creation in Jamaica, Queens to the friends who were by its side, the photos evoke the life events and personal connections that led to its death.
“This is my story, this is the story of Southside Jamaica, Queens,” said Kanan de Curtis during the track.
Joining Curtis in the prequel series are Patina Miller, Omar Epps, London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Shanley Caswell, Lovie Simone, Toby Sandeman and Joey Bada $$. Additional cast members, including Quincy Brown, Ade Chike Torbert, Natalee Linez and Annabelle Zasowski.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan is executive produced by Kemp, through his company End of Episode, and Jackson, through his G-Unit Film and Television. Penn is the creator / showrunner of Raising Kanan. Also executive producers are Mark Canton through his Atmosphere Entertainment MM, Chris Selak of End of Episode and Danielle DeJesus, Shana Stein, Bart Wenrich and Kevin Fox with Rob Hardy as executive producer and directing the premiere episode. Lionsgate TV produces the series for Starz.
