Raiders looking to trade Rodney Hudson

Yesterday, we heard that the Raiders were cutting through the center of the Pro Bowl Rodney Hudson. Not so fast. Las Vegas is first trying to move Hudson via commerce, a source told Josina Anderson (Twitter Link)

In a follow-up tweet, Anderson notes that there are conversations about a negotiation involving a “second day choice”. A Day 2 choice would be a good choice for a player they were about to cut. This has been a trend in the NFL recently, with reports that a player was being cut off just for the team to try to change him at the last minute, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. It was reported that the saints would cut off the defensive system Malcom Brown, and then they negotiated it with the Jags yesterday.

Dolphins have been configured to cut Kyle Van Noy, then tried to negotiate it, only to finally free it after not finding buyers. If Hudson is traded or launched, it still represents a dramatic overhaul of the Raiders’ offensive line. This change follows the Las Vegas cuts of Gabe Jackson and Richie Incognito and its trade in Trent Brown to New England.

Hudson, 31, classified as Pro Football Focus’ No. 8 general center last season. The Raiders hired him for an extension of $ 33.75 million for three years in 2019. In six seasons with the team, he has only lost four games in total.

The product of the state of Florida and ex-Kansas City Chief has made it to the Pro Bowl in three of the past five seasons and was a second-time All-Pro in 2019.
