The controversial competitor, one of the last four women competing to win James’ heart, had a difficult parachuting encounter with him. She screams “Oof” as she falls flat on the floor with her instructor on the double parachute.
James, who had already landed safely, ran to Kirkconnell while she was lying on the floor. “Rachael literally crashed into the earth, hard,” he said.
Kirkconnell said her back was hurting and she looked bruised, but she continued with the day-long meeting. She later said that James’ care impressed her. The Spinster revealed that seeing her in danger made him realize that he was feeling love for her.
But many Twitter fans did not feel so supportive after the allegations of Kirkconnell’s racist past emerged, including photos of her attending a slavery-themed party and enjoying photos with Confederate flags on social media. (She later apologized for her “offensive and racist” actions.)
