On a night when they were unable to buy a 3-point shot, the Milwaukee Bucks fell to the Denver Nuggets by 128-97.
NBA.com Box Score
Denver would take advantage of a porous Milwaukee defense after one, as it had a 37-23 lead. In the last 3:22 of the first quarter, the Bucks were defeated by 15-2. Milwaukee would end up hitting a percentage of just 24% (6 out of 25) of the depths in the first half, which would be the largest component in Denver with a 64-50 lead in the range.
Milwaukee wouldn’t be able to greatly reduce Denver’s advantage over the third. Cold shots from the Bucks and hot shots from Denver and Jamal Murray would allow them to maintain their big advantage. Moving to fourth place, the Nuggets prepared a 99-80 lead.
Although the Bucks reduced Denver’s lead to just 13 points at the start of the quarter, they would not be able to reach the top of the mountain. The Nuggets proved to be too much to overcome and would escape with a 128-97 victory.
Stat that stood out
The entire first half is where the Bucks have buried themselves in a huge hole, mainly due to the bad shot beyond the bow. They would shoot at just 24% in the first half (6 out of 25) and lose countless open looks. Pure and simple, if this is happening, ball games will not be won. The Bucks would end up shooting 11 out of 40 on the night of the depths. It was just an ugly overall performance in that category and the Bucks will try to improve Thursday’s filming in Memphis.
