Queen Latifah launches into the character as a former CIA member turned vigilant in the action-packed trailer for The Equalizer
Evidently, Queen Latifah has been busy for the past few months.
On January 9, a promotional trailer for their next series, The Equalizer, was released on the series’ official Twitter account.
The remake of the action drama series is set to air on CBS, which also hosted the original 1980s show.

New promotion: on January 9, a trailer was launched for the next series led by Queen Latifah, The Equalizer

Broad release: the 30-second trailer was first released on the series’ official Twitter account
The trailer begins with Latifah, which portrays Robyn McCall, walking with his daughter Delilah, played by Laya DeLeon.
When her daughter asked why she abruptly quit her job a month earlier, a quick set of photos is shown showing Latifah training himself in a gym and on the street, and the 50-year-old actress replies, ‘It’s complicated.’
Another photo montage is seen, many of which show the Grammy-winning singer holding a gun during an operation with others, and she finally finds several women hiding in a closet.
She is then seen speaking to ex-CIA director William Bishop, played by Chris Noth, who informs her that the agency is taking up her vigilante activities, to which she replies that she is no longer under her jurisdiction.

Remake: the next show is a remake of the 1980s action drama series, which was broadcast on CBS

Plot: The story will follow a former CIA agent who leaves the agency to pursue a life of vigilantism
Latifah is then confronted by a friend of hers who asks if she is: ‘some kind of ex-cop’, to whom she replies that she has become: ‘the one you call when you can’t call 911’.
A brief physical exchange is then seen in which she pushes a criminal against a wall, to her surprise, and the shooting then ends.
A fluorescent light chart is shown, along with the series’ release date of February 7, just after the Super Bowl.
Post-Super Bowl time is one of the most coveted spots on television programming, and many major networks use the time to broadcast a special episode from an existing series or debut an entirely new one.
Some of the programs that premiered after the annual sporting event include The A-Team, Family Guy and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Wide debut: the next show is set to make its debut right after the Super Bowl on February 7

Good location: the time interval immediately after the annual sporting event has traditionally been used to broadcast a special episode in a series or to debut an entirely new one

Solid cast: other cast members of the next series include Chris Noth and Lorraine Toussaint, among others
The development of the remake series was initially announced in November 2019, with Latifah serving as the show’s executive producer.
After a pilot order was placed by CBS in January last year, the production team began preparing to start filming in March, before being delayed by the onset of the global pandemic; filming began at the end of the year.
Cast members Tory Kittles, Lorraine Toussaint and Liza Lapira, among others.
The Equalizer had already been made into a 2014 film starring Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz; the project received mixed reviews, but it was a box office success.
The Washington-led film spawned a 2018 sequel, which also performed well financially.

Stay safe: the series was originally scheduled to start filming in March, but the impact of the global pandemic on the television industry forced filming to be delayed for several months

Big screen: two spinoff films inspired by the original series premiered in 2014 and 2018; both were financial successes at the box office
