Queen Elizabeth Urges Those Who Are Not Getting Vaccine to ‘Think About Others’ After Receiving Covid Jab

Queen Elizabeth II encouraged people to get the coronavirus vaccine after receiving the vaccine herself.

There are several vaccines on offer in the UK and millions have already accepted the offer to receive the vaccine.

But the reigning monarch tried to allay fears that this could be dangerous, by giving her personal experience in getting the vaccine.

The 94-year-old man appeared on a video call with NHS officials who are responsible for launching and delivering the vaccination.

The Queen said to them, “It’s a bit like a plague, isn’t it? Because it’s not just here that we have the virus, it’s everywhere. After taking the vaccine, you have the feeling of being protected … as far as I can realize, it was quite harmless.

“It was very fast and I received many letters from people who were very surprised at how easy it was to get the vaccine.”

But then she attacked people who did not receive the vaccine and do not plan to receive the vaccine.

“Obviously, it is difficult for people, if they have never had a vaccine, they should think about other people and not themselves,” she said.

“I think it is amazing how quickly everything was done and so many people have already received the vaccine.”

The Queen added: “It didn’t hurt at all.”

The United Kingdom has set an ambitious goal of vaccinating at least 15 million people from four key groups by 15 February and has managed to achieve this.

The plan was to ensure that everyone over the age of 70 and clinically vulnerable received at least one dose of the vaccine, as well as offering vaccines to all nursing home residents and health and social care professionals on the front.

It is also possible that some people outside the four main priority groups also received a dose, in an attempt to prevent the doses from being missed.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock released a statement when the goal was reached, which said: “I am very proud of the team – we have reached this fantastic milestone in our battle against COVID-19. In less than 10 weeks, we have reached more than 15 millions of people across the UK.

“That’s one in four adults now beginning to receive protection from this terrible disease.”

“This achievement is thanks to the incredible efforts of NHS frontline workers, vaccine volunteers, the armed forces and all those who work in local and central government. The launch of the vaccine shows what our country can achieve by working together.

“There is much more to do and I ask anyone eligible to step forward and take up their appointment. The vaccine is our path to freedom – we will beat this virus blow by blow.”

Hancock hopes that advances in the treatment of the virus and vaccines will make Covid-19 a ‘treatable disease’ by the end of 2021.
