Queen Elizabeth II is reportedly “sad” and not “angry” at Prince Harry’s bombshell TV interview with Oprah Winfrey – but has promised in particular to support her grandson.
Harry and Meghan Markle made a number of impressive claims during their meeting with Oprah, including that an unspecified member of the royal family had raised “concerns” about how dark their unborn son, Archie, would be.
The 94-year-old monarch ordered a private family investigation into the allegations while taking personal control of curing the bitter divide that was revealed in the revelation, according to The Sun.
“She is not angry, she is just sad,” said a source to the news agency about the Queen, who, in particular, was not furious with the Sussex, whom she described as “very dear family members”.
“They have always cared about him (Harry) and the Queen feels very protective of him,” the source told The Sun.
“They always tried to support you when Meghan showed up. Everyone was less concerned about him when Meghan was on the scene, as he looked so happy, ”added the source.
Markle’s TV host and friend, Gayle King, said that Harry spoke to his father, Charles, and his brother William, but that their conversations so far “have not been productive” after the sensational interview with CBS News.
Harry stated during the interview that the relationship with his grandmother was “very good” and that the two talked a lot.
A statement released by Buckingham Palace after the interview said: “The whole family is saddened to learn the extent of how challenging the past few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, especially regarding race, are worrisome. Although some memories may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be taken care of by the family in particular.
The palace declined to comment to The Sun.
