Coronavirus update for The Crown Heights community of The Gedaliah Society and Dr. Eli Rosen: Crown Heights has seen a recent increase in COVID cases, do not attend Purim festivities if you have any symptoms. Full story
Throughout the month of February, we had cases continued daily, in a fluctuating pattern. In the past few days, we saw an increase, unfortunately, as soon as we entered Purim. We have had about 130 cases since the beginning of February, with at least 40 in the past 7 days alone; these are the cases that were positive, which we are aware of. Of those cases in February, three appear to have been reinfections. Most of Boruch Hashem’s patients did very well, although some became very ill.
As always, wearing masks and social distance remain important tools to slow the spread of infection. Considering that we are entering Purim and that we have seen a recent increase in cases, the following request is critical:
If you have any symptoms, please do not participate in the Purim festivities. The inevitable agglomeration nature of these events makes them a particularly high risk of spreading infection and a possible over-spreading event. Even if you are unsure and just feel bad, or have an unusual headache, sore throat or any of the many symptoms that can be detected, please prefer caution and do not mix with other people. The same applies if you have been in close contact with someone who has Covid.
May we be accommodated in a happy and healthy Purim, and may the Purim simchas be poiretz all the gedarim and difficulties of this time, and lead us to the final simcha of moshiach tzidkeinu.
A Purim freilichen,
