‘Punky Brewster’ sets premiere date, Peacock reveals preferential access – deadline

Every time I turn around … her spirit is lifting me off the floor! If you’re familiar with the iconic and colorful ’80s TV series Punky Brewster, you can recognize those words from the theme song. We don’t know if the theme song will be the same, but what we do know is that the revival of the Peacock series is set to launch all 10 episodes of the new Punky Brewster on February 25th. In addition, the streamer launched the first look of the cast that you can check out above.

In this sequel to the iconic ’80s sitcom about a brilliant young woman raised by a foster father, Punky is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy, a young woman in the foster system who remembers Punky very much from her younger me.

Soleil Moon Frye and Cherie Johnson return as Punky and Cherie, respectively, while Freddie Prinze Jr. will star as Travis, Punky’s ex-husband. The cast also features Quinn Copeland as Izzy, Noah Cottrell as Diego, Oliver De Los Santos as Daniel and Lauren Lindsey Donzis as Hannah.

The original multi-camera series was created by David W. Duclon and debuted in 1984 and spanned four seasons, two on NBC, the rest on distribution. He won three Primetime Emmy nominations, including two for the Children’s Outstanding Program. The series launched Frye to stardom. She also voiced the character Punky in It’s Punky Brewster, an animated series that spanned two seasons and received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Animated Program.
