Publix working with the Florida Department of Health to supply COVID-19 vaccines in 22 pharmacies in Citrus, Hernando and Marion counties

LAKELAND, Florida – (BUSINESS WIRE) – At a news conference this afternoon, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced a collaboration between Publix and the Florida Department of Health to distribute approximately 15,000 doses of the Modern COVID-19 vaccine to customers aged 65 and over. The vaccine will initially be available at 22 stores in Citrus, Hernando and Marion counties.

“It is our privilege to work with Governor DeSantis as a distributor of this important vaccine. We are grateful to help protect the health and well-being of people at risk of serious coronavirus complications, ”said Publix, vice president of pharmacy Dain Rusk. “We are looking forward to a time when everyone who wants a vaccine can get it.”

Each store can schedule approximately 120 vaccinations a day, while supplies last. Vaccines are scheduled only from Thursday, January 7. Customers can make an appointment using the online booking system at publix.com/covidvaccine.

Vaccines are provided free of charge. Insurance customers will need to bring their insurance card, and uninsured customers will be required to provide their driver’s license or Social Security number.
