Publix joins a growing list of grocery stores that offer incentives for workers to be vaccinated

The popular southern supermarket chain said it is offering its employees $ 125 gift cards when they sign up and show proof of vaccination.

Although more and more employers are offering similar incentives, vaccine distribution and eligibility continue to vary across the country. Most of the more than 2.4 million low-wage grocery workers in the United States have not yet qualified for the vaccine.
Aldi is offering its hourly workers two hours of pay for each dose of vaccine they receive. This equates to a total of up to four hours of paid time off. The supermarket chain said it would also “cover the costs associated with administering the vaccine” to its employees who want to be vaccinated.

Dollar General

The family network is giving its workers a single payment equivalent to four hours of payment after receiving the full vaccination.

Instacart

Instacart said it will provide some financial assistance to its employees in stores and independent contractors. The food delivery company is offering a $ 25 “vaccine support stipend” to vaccinated employees in stores and independent contractors.

Independent buyers will have to purchase and deliver at least five lots to the company in the past 30 days to qualify for the stipend.

Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s is offering its employees “an additional 2 hours of regular pay per dose for the time it takes to get vaccinated,” according to a company spokesman.

Kroger

Kroger is offering its members a one-time payment of $ 100 if they provide proof that they have received the full doses recommended by a Covid-19 vaccine manufacturer. For workers who cannot receive the vaccine for health or religious reasons, they can still be paid $ 100 if they complete an educational health and safety course, the company said.

The supermarket chain said it also plans to spend an additional $ 50 million to reward its members, which includes a $ 100 store credit and 1,000 fuel points for its front-line grocery, supply chain, manufacturing associates. , pharmacy and call center.

Publix

Similar to Kroger, Publix said it would give its members a $ 125 gift card from Publix for IT employees who receive the full Covid-19 vaccine.

To receive the gift card, the employee must present an internal form together with the vaccination voucher. The company says its associates do not need to be vaccinated at a Publix pharmacy to receive gift cards.

Starbucks

The coffee giant is giving its employees up to two hours of paid break per dose, or a total of up to four hours of paid break.

Target

Target said it will offer its more than 350,000 hourly employees up to four hours of pay – two hours for each dose they receive – and free Lyft trips of up to $ 15 each way to and from their vaccination appointments.
