THE PUBG universe is expanding with a new mobile title for iOS and Android called PUBG: New State, that catapults the real battle in time for a more futuristic approach to the massive multiplayer genre.
Set in 2051, PUBG: New State occurs years after the current PUBG games (which take place approximately in modern times) on a new map called Troi and promises to bring with it a series of weapons and vehicles from the near future, such as drones and folding combat shields. Based on the first images, it’s a vibration similar to another sniper Call to actionsemi-futuristic military gaming technology like Black Ops 3 and 4.
The new game is also set to delve deeper into the general tradition PUBG universe, which apparently is something that exists surprisingly for a game whose most significant cultural significance is the use of a cast iron skillet as a weapon. What the time jump will mean for the beloved PUBG characters like Lunchmeat, however, will have to wait for the game to launch.

New status also promises to shake up the formula for PUBG games, with in-game weapon customization options that will allow players to modify their weapons within a match in a way that sounds similar to Apex Legends‘weapon accessories.
New status marks the third Battle Royale game under the PUBG umbrella – though, unlike its mobile cousin PUBG Mobile, PUBG: New State will be developed by PUBG Studio, the company behind PlayerUnknown’s battlegrounds, the PC and console version of the original game. (PUBG Mobile it’s actually a separate title developed by Chinese tech giant Tencent.) And despite the title’s mobile nature, PUBG Studio is making great promises of “ultra-realistic graphics that go beyond the limits of mobile games”.
PUBG: New State will be available for Android and iOS in late 2021, with alpha tests also set for later this year.
