PUBG 2 is not a new state, expected by 2022

A PUBG sequence, in one form or another, is expected to arrive by 2022 for PC and consoles. This is a different game from PUBG: New State, a futuristic real battle game unveiled last week.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds known dataminer PlayerIGN (unrelated to IGN or its subsidiaries) tweeted this new state is not the same PUBG 2 that was expected some time ago. In response to someone asking if New State is the follow-up we’ve been waiting for, PlayerIGN replied, “the PUBG 2 (PC / console) thing is something we’re still waiting for in 2022.”

He said New State will stay on the cell phone, at least for now, and should not interact with any of the other versions of PUBG currently available. This is in line with a January report that a mobile game would be released this year, and another PUBG release next year. Developed by PUBG Corp and published by Krafton Inc., PUBG: New State puts players on a new 8 × 8 map called Troi. Set in 2051, it features futuristic vehicles, more destructible environments and, according to the initial press release, players can “enjoy next generation survival features that evolve the battlefields”.

This is the first step towards a wider PUBG universe that Krafton is gradually creating. Last December, The Callisto Protocol, a horror game for a player from former Dead Space developers, was revealed to take place 300 years into the future of PUBG.

Here is the trailer for New State:

You can pre-register with PUBG; New status through the Google Play store. Don’t forget about vanilla PUBG – the team was just asking what features you would like to see in the future.
