Attention, Valheim players – a “world destroyer” bug is redefining characters and worlds and the developer Iron Gate has not yet been able to eliminate it.
“If you’re playing Valheim this weekend, back up your world and characters,” tweeted Iron Gate CEO Richard Svensson. “The evil world destroyer bug is still roaming freely = (.

“It’s an evil bug, which we haven’t been able to reproduce just once :(. It seems to occur more often if you exit the game with ALT + F4, so try using menu-> exit,” added Svensson.
For now, however, players are advised to locate their game files – “in Windows Worlds and characters are saved to C: Users Username AppData LocalLow IronGate Valheim ” – and copy them, keeping a safe backup elsewhere just in case you’re affected.
If you’ve already lost data, try checking these folders too, as you can find old hidden saves – look for the .db.old and .fwl.old files, and delete the .old to use them again (thanks, PC Gamer)
Valheim may have just been released on Steam with early access earlier this month on February 2, but it’s already went through a million players. In fact, it had a peak simultaneous player count of just over 160,000 players, making it the fourth most played game on Steam at any given time. This is the amazing feat of the Iron Gate game.
As we detailed yesterday, when Valheim roadmap for 2021 has been revealed, if you are not familiar with it, it is essentially a Nordic survival game. You are thrown on a Nordic map with nothing but the clothes on your back, and given the task of foraging and surviving, driving away enemies and creatures while trying to build your own settlement. So far, this formula has proven to be a huge success among Steam players.
