PS5 Restock Updates as PS2-Themed PlayStation 5 Console to launch Friday

The PS5 is generally not available in major stores at the moment, but a limited edition console inspired by the PlayStation 2 is on its way. While Walmart, Target and Best Buy are currently sold out, seller SUP3R5 is launching a retro PS5 console tomorrow.

Find out below everything you need to know about the PS5 with the PS2 theme, as well as the latest updates on the PS5’s status in official stores. Remember that the PS2-inspired console is not directly affiliated with Sony, so you may prefer to wait for an official dealer to refuel.

PS5 with PS2 theme

SUP3R5 is releasing a limited number of PS2 themed black PS5s on Friday, January 8, at 3 pm EST. The retailer will release 304 consoles as a tribute to the PS2 launch day on March 4, 2000.

The retro-inspired PS5 console will cost $ 749, while the digital edition will cost $ 649 and will be limited to one per customer. The console comes with a controller and an extra controller will cost an additional $ 100.

SUP3R5 aims to prevent limited edition PS5 consoles from being purchased by money changers. SUP3R5 said it will cancel pre-orders from anyone who is listing the console on retail sites and will cancel orders from those who try to buy more than the limit for a console and two controllers, including multiple orders to the same address.

To prepare for the launch of the PS5 with the PS2 theme tomorrow, go to the SUP3R5 website and create a profile to save your information. On Twitter, SUP3R5 said: “We encourage you to do this to get through the checkout as soon as possible.”

In addition, SUP3R5 said that the consoles will be released in late spring, but this could be postponed if the retailer decides to make more consoles available. In a Twitter poll, players voted for the SUP3R5 to make more black PS5 consoles with the PS2 theme, even if it meant waiting more for the release.

Finally, as the PS2-inspired PS5 is not officially linked to Sony, consumers will buy the console at their own risk. SUP3R5 is a third party company and there is a chance that Sony will shut down operation before consoles are shipped. In addition, the DualSense controller is disassembled in the process of modification, which means that Sony’s warranty does not apply.

Keep that in mind if you want to get the chance to get your hands on this retro version of the next-generation PlayStation console. Otherwise, read on for updates on official PlayStation 5 retailers.
