The PS5 refueling on GameStop is now sold out, but the choices were a little scarce to start: the store only sold them in one of two expensive packages – one for the standard console with a couple of games, Sackboy and Spider-Man Ultimate Edition , and another for digital editing with an extra DualSense controller, HD camera and PlayStation gift.
This was again a surprise drop, and like the last, it was essentially a ‘pre-order’ for consoles that will not be shipped or can be picked up at the store until January 31, at the very least. This happened the previous January, when the GameStop PS5 was replenished, which added another layer of frustration in an already difficult console buying season.
Now that the refueling is over, there are other online retailers who can put the console in stock below.
Here’s where to check PS5 refueling:
PS5 refueling: why it’s better than ever
If you’re reading this, you may have been struggling to buy a PS5 since November, and you’re not alone: many consumers have tried unsuccessfully to skip line after line online, as consoles sell out before they have a chance to buy one. It’s not you, it’s the low supply and the huge demand for a new generation of consoles after seven years of PS4 and Xbox One.
Even if you don’t get a unit with this refueling, we can guarantee that more will come – probably within a week. Retailers have quietly continued their effort to obtain more inventory on a regular basis, although, as with all inventories we have seen, they tend to arrive without notice. This GameStop tweet, then, is a nice change of pace, giving us all time to prepare.
Best of all, waiting so long means a shorter wait for all new PS5 games scheduled to be released over 2021.
