Anyone disappointed not to find a PlayStation 5 under the Christmas tree can find comfort in knowing that many people in the United States have found themselves in the same circumstances.
Since its launch in November, Sony’s next-generation console has proven to be a huge success and its popularity has made retailers scramble to replenish shelves to meet rising demand. Despite retailers’ efforts, however, a large number of players were left empty-handed with the standard PS5, priced at $ 499, and the PS5 Digital Edition, priced at $ 399, selling out quickly.
The nature of the console launch made life more difficult for those who want to get their hands on the PS5, as bots and money changers seek to buy the consoles online, before reselling them at scary prices on third-party websites.
The good news is that Sony has confirmed that more stocks are going to retailers and has encouraged customers to keep their eyes open for the latest stock drop.
“Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will reach retailers before the end of the year – stay in touch with local retailers,” said the tech giant in a statement last week.
Here is an analysis of the latest PS5 refueling information from Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Newegg, PopFindr, BrickSeek and more.
Target PS5 Refueling
The availability of Target’s PS5 varies by store and is not currently marked out of stock on the Target website. Availability for local stores can be checked at Target.com or through stock checkers like BrickSeek and PopFindr.
According to the gaming website Spiel Times, a limited number of consoles are expected to hit the shelves of Target stores between Sunday, December 27 and Tuesday, December 29.
It is important to note, however, that the PS5 is only available online at Target, with drive-up or order pickup after being successfully ordered online. In addition, there is a limit of one console per customer.
Walmart PS5 Refueling
Walmart is currently out of stock and does not accept pending orders for the console. Although PS5 games and accessories are available on the Walmart website, the console is not listed as available.
“We have more next generation consoles online soon and we continue to work hard to get them into the hands of as many customers as possible,” the retailer said in a statement on December 15.
Newegg PS5 Refueling
Newegg announced a PS5 replenishment via Twitter last week, releasing the last batch of consoles at 8 pm ET on December 22. However, on December 26, the retailer announced that it was out of stock again, but customers should monitor the site for updates.
Best Buy PS5 Refueling
Best Buy replenished its PS5 supplies less than a week ago, but the console sold out again. On the retailer’s website, both the regular PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition are listed as out of stock.
Antonline PS5 Refueling
Antonline launched a limited number of consoles last week, but has since confirmed that it will no longer announce further stockouts. The PS5 is listed as sold out on its website at the time of writing.
Costco PS5 Restock
Consoles are sold out at Costco. As is the case with Target, the PS5 is only available online at Target and there is a limit of one console per customer. For now, there are no updates on the next refueling.
PopFindr PS5 and BrickSeek PS5 inventory scanners
Inventory checkers like PopFindr and BrickSeek allow shoppers to see which stores at Walmart, Target, Best Buy and GameStop have PS5s in stock.
Some stores, however, have started to block both sites.
