Proud Boys organizer arrested in Florida over Capitol riot

Biggs appeared to be using a walkie-talkie during the attack on the Capitol, but he told FBI agents that he was unaware of the planning of the destructive mutiny and did not know who organized it, the statement said.

Before the turmoil, Biggs told his followers on the social media app Parler to dress in black to resemble the far-left antifa movement, according to the statement.

Biggs organized a 2019 rally in Portland, Oregon, in which more than 1,000 far-right protesters and anti-fascist counter-protesters clashed.

The Proud Boys are a neo-fascist group known for engaging in violent clashes at political rallies. During a presidential debate in September, Trump had urged them to “step back and wait” when asked to condemn them by a moderator.

An online lawsuit did not say whether Biggs has a lawyer who could comment.

Jesus Rivera, 37, was also arrested Wednesday in Pensacola. He faces charges of intentionally entering a restricted building, with the intention of preventing government business, disorderly conduct and demonstrations in Capitol buildings.

Rivera uploaded a video to Facebook showing herself in the United States Capitol crypt, officials said. The five-minute video ends with Rivera starting to jump out of the Capitol window, according to an arrest statement.

An online lawsuit also did not list a lawyer for Rivera.

The cases are being handled by federal prosecutors in the District of Columbia. More than half a dozen other Floridians were accused of attacking the Capitol.
