“White supremacists, like the Proud Boys, would rather see the country burn than see it united under justice and freedom for all,” said Kristen Clarke, president and executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights under the Law. “Black churches and other religious institutions have a long and terrible history of being targets of white supremacists in racist and violent attacks with the aim of intimidating and creating fear. Our process aims to hold those who are involved in such actions accountable. We are proud to represent Metropolitan AME, which has a long history of resistance against intolerance and hatred and whose courage and determination to fight is a beacon of hope for the community. ”
