Some members of the Proud Boys, who were staunch allies of former President Donald Trump, walked away from him after leaving the White House forever on Wednesday, the New York Times reported.
“Trump will be considered a total failure,” the Proud Boys said on a Telegram channel on Monday.
The group supported the president for years and was especially reenergized after saying, “Proud boys – step back and stand still” during a presidential debate last year.
Trump was responding after being asked to denounce white nationalist organizations.
Some Proud Boys were present on January 6, when a pro-Trump crowd invaded the United States Capitol. After Trump lost the election in November, the group encouraged members to attend the protests and echoed baseless claims that he had lost due to fraud.
“Hail, Emperor Trump,” wrote the Proud Boys on a private Telegram channel on November 8, the Times reported.

However, when Trump stepped down, some Proud Boys were disappointed that he no longer fought to remain in power, and that he later condemned the violence that followed during the Capitol siege, which led to five deaths.
Some members called Trump “shill” and “extraordinarily weak” and have since urged others not to attend any more events by Trump or even the Republican party, the Times reported.
Members are angry that Trump did not help the Proud Boys arrested for their involvement in the Jan. 6 siege.
On Wednesday, Joseph Biggs, the group’s leader, was arrested on charges of obstructing a lawsuit, entering restricted areas and disorderly conduct, CNN reported.

He is at least the fifth member of the Proud Boys to be arrested in connection with the deadly riot on Capitol Hill, the Times reported.
According to reports by Insider Rachel Greenspan, members of the far-right group QAnon have also begun to repudiate the president. The group exhibited an unfounded conspiracy theory, according to which Trump was fighting a “deep state” conspiracy by pedophiles and human traffickers.
